Meet Darrell Eckley
Clinical Psychologist · Omeo, Victoria
I work with adults, adolescents, couples and veterans, offering appointments in person and via telehealth.
My approach is warm, practical and collaborative. We begin with what matters to you, make sense of the difficulties you’re facing, and work together on ways forward.
My approach
I draw on Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We explore how thoughts, emotions, relationships and earlier experiences may affect your day-to-day life, and work on practical ways to respond. Our work is guided by your concerns and goals.
Qualifications
Master of Clinical Psychology
Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)
Diploma of Sport and Fitness
I received the University Medal and the Australian Psychological Society Prize for academic excellence.
Military and life experience
I served for six years in the Australian Army: three years as a parachuting medic, followed by three years in the Special Air Services Regiment as an infantryman.
I work with veterans as well as adults, adolescents and couples. Familiarity with military culture may help some veterans feel understood, while our work together remains focused on your individual experiences and needs.
My civilian background includes construction, manufacturing, horse-riding instruction and work as a professional crisis supporter for Lifeline. I also completed a two-year, 5,000-kilometre horse trek along the National Trail. These varied experiences continue to inform my interest in people and the different lives they lead.
